The Association of Slovak Community Foundations- AKNS was created in 2003, and has 8 members at present. The mission of the Association is to foster development of Slovak community foundations, and to help create partnerships with donors and different institutions.
The Association brings together organizations which have a unique role in their communities: community foundations accumulate an in-depth knowledge of their communities’ needs, in partnerships with their donors they fund initiatives which strive to meet these needs, and they disseminate the ideas of local giving, self- help and voluntary involvement.
The Association guarantees the high quality performance of member community foundations, and provides them with support and consultancy needed for their further development. To its partners, the Association offers professional services, opportunity for partnership, outreach to communities in all Slovak regions, and donor recognition. The Association can be a partner for everyone.
The President of the Association of Slovak Community Foundations is Jozef Jarina, Executive Director/ CEO of the Bardejov Community Foundation.

PROJECTS BRING HELP TO CHILDREN
RWE Gas Slovensko and Association of Slovak Community Foundations supported ten projects to help children. Within a joint grant program, they provide assistance to children with grave sicknesses and to their families with the purpose to alleviate their sufferings and to increase the quality of their lives. The projects were funded with a total amount of 17,832 EUR. read more

HELP FOR CHILDREN GRANT PROGRAM
In November 2011, AKNS partnered with WE Gas Slovensko , and three community foundations in Slovakia - Bardejov, Banska Bystrica and Bratislaba opened up a new grant program Help for Children. Within the Program, the foundations will awards grants across all Slovak communities in the total amount of 19,975 EUR. read more
